Originated from The Educational Television and Radio Center from 1952-1959, and later The National Educational Television and Radio Center. ID'ed simply as NET after 1962.

The original 4th TV network, founded by Allen B. DuMont. Among their original affiliates were WABD in New York (now WNYW); KHJ-TV (now KCAL), KTSL (now KCBS-TV) and KTTV in Los Angeles; WGN-TV in Chicago, WTTG in Washington D.C., WDTV in Pittsburg and various others.

Originated from the Times Mirror Company as the original CBS West Coast flagship back in 1949. Affiliated with DuMont for a few years after the swap with KTSL and went local in 1956. KTTV was later sold to Metromedia Inc. in the mid 1960s. Became the West Coast flaship station of Fox Broadcasting in 1986.
